Case Zero

Built to the standard we sell.

No borrowed testimonials. Here is the whole build of this very site in the open: what we chose, what we refused, and the receipts.

What we chose to build

The proof before the promise.

Before we ask anyone to trust us with their business, we built the site we’d want to be judged on, to the exact standard we sell. Not a demo. The real launch, measured in public.

The rules we set ourselves

Constraints, on purpose.

These are the lines we build inside — on our own site first.

Zero external requests

Every font, script, and pixel is self-hosted. Open the Network tab — nothing loads from anyone else. Your site can’t be slowed, tracked, or broken by a third party we don’t control.

No libraries

The effects are our own code, not a megabyte of someone else’s framework. We wrote every line, so nothing ships that we can’t explain.

No dark patterns

No countdowns, no fake scarcity, no guilt pop-ups, no cookie-wall. Nothing here relies on you not looking closely.

Accessibility, verified

Contrast, keyboard focus, reduced-motion, and seizure-safe animation — all verified on the build that shipped.

Ownership-first

Built the way we hand work over — yours to keep, in your name, no lock-in.

No claim we can’t back

Where we couldn’t prove something, we softened it or cut it.

The receipt

Measured, not asserted.

Anyone can say “fast and accessible.” Here is the dated proof — run it yourself. What these numbers mean.

Lighthouse

98 · 100 · 100 · 100

Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, SEO on the home page, measured on the live site as a phone. Services: 97 · 100 · 100 · 100. Lighthouse 13.5.0, median of 3 runs, 27 Sep 2026.

Load

2.3s to main content

LCP 2.3s: when the main content appears. CLS 0: how much the layout jumps (0 is none). TBT 0ms: how long the page was too busy to answer a tap.

Contrast

Every pair passes

Every text color checked against the background it sits on: at least 4.5 to 1 for body text and 3 to 1 for large text, the WCAG AA bar.

With JavaScript off

Still works

Turn scripts off and the site stays readable and navigable. The motion is an enhancement, never the message.

What we left out

What we chose not to add.

Refused

  • Borrowed testimonials or invented reviews. We have no client stories to show yet, and we won’t pretend we do.
  • Manufactured urgency — fake countdowns and invented deadlines.
  • Autoplay anything, or motion that hijacks your scroll.
  • A cookie-wall or a data-grab before we’ve earned anything.

Held back until it’s ready

  • More from the 3D engine behind our Experience pages: a WebGL2 gallery of living effects (a crystalline orbit, an ink-bloom fluid, more on the way). Zero dependencies, zero external requests. Built and working, held back until every piece is extraordinary.
Restraint is part of the craft. Nothing ships until it’s extraordinary on its own.

A note from the founder

No client logos yet. Here’s the work.

Most agencies would put a client’s logo here. We’d rather show you something you can check: the measured build of this very site. Honeybloom runs in layers. The paid work funds free tools for people who can’t pay, and a nonprofit after that. I’d rather answer to the person reading this than to a shareholder who never will, so this is the first thing I’ve built under that rule. Look as close as you like. — Duane
